This book is my first attempt at writing historical fiction.... a genre I have always admired as a reader.

The story is a fictionalised account inspired by the life of the Peshwin- Kashibai, set in the time of the Maratha Empire. This narrative is written from her point of view and mainly focuses on her thoughts, her feelings, her needs, and her experiences as a woman living in that era.

History often remembers people for their public roles and achievements, but through this book, I have tried to explore the more personal side of her life, her emotional world, her responsibilities, and the reality of being a married woman in those times.

The story may include certain intimate moments between husband and wife, as they were a natural part of marital life. In those days, a woman's world was mostly limited to her home, her husband, her children, and her duties towards the family. These aspects have been included only to present her life in a complete and realistic manner.

It is also important to clarify that the portrayal of Bajirao Ballal in domestic or personal settings should not be seen as a reduction of his image as a great warrior or leader. This book is centred on Kashibai's perspective, and therefore presents him as he existed within her personal life.
